CrimeNet in LazyTown - Chapter 1
It had been a few months since ACME CrimeNet set up shop in LazyTown. The guys – and The Chief – had become well acquainted with the citizens of the small, strange town, and enjoyed it there the more they stuck around.
After a chance encounter with Glanni Glæpur – and by chance encounter, they mean Glanni nosily barging into their HQ, flirting with all the detectives – Sean, in particular – and just… hanging around – they decided to put his skills to good use, making Glanni the official-but-yet-unofficial liaison to the criminal world. If anyone would be able to gain intel and use what they knew to help them, it’d be Glanni.
The somewhat-former criminal was more than happy to oblige, especially if it meant getting to be around the handsome detectives.
“This is exciting!” Glanni said, giving his makeup a touch up. “I get to be the ‘liaison’ so to speak, and you boys get to cover me. Just don’t accidentally shoot me, okay? I don’t trust anyone with guns anymore.”
Sean, Scott, Elliott, and Barry just chuckled, rolling their eyes at Glanni’s words.
“Been shot at before?” Sean asked, curiously.
“Got shot in the leg, actually.” Glanni remarked, pointing to his knee. “Hurt like hell. My knee will never be right again.”
The boys all looked a bit stunned at Glanni’s words.
“Don’t look at me like that. I was running from the cops back then and yeah… they got me right in the back of the knee. It doesn’t hurt as much anymore, just every so often it flares up.”
Glanni glanced out the window; the sun was setting. Just a matter of time before they set off to rendezvous with a crook.
* * *
A couple hours later, Glanni and the boys waited down at the old part of LazyTown’s unused harbor. It had become a breeding ground for crime. All they had known is that they were going to meet one of Carmen’s henchmen and get some intel of where they could find the loot that had been stolen.
After a minute's wait, RoboCrook came clanking over to the meetup spot.
“I.. did not expect the tin can to be who we were meeting…” Glanni whispered. “Wish me luck… I don’t know how to reason with a robot.”
Glanni approached, as the boys stayed hidden behind a dumpster.
“Didn’t expect to see you here. Carmen run out of all her other henchmen?”
“Ha ha.” the bot replied, monotone. “I was the closest to this town. The loot is possibly in MayhemTown.”
"Well, that was easy enough. The bot's probably short circuiting..." Glanni thought to himself.
“Thanks, Tin Can.” Glanni smirked at his ‘nickname’ for the bot.
“I don’t like being called Tin Can.”
“I didn’t think you – “ Glanni’s words were cut off by the bot grabbing him by the throat.
Unexpected… and not good.
RoboCrook lifted him off the ground, laughing in as much of a maniacal way that a robot could. Glanni swatted at him to no avail.
The boys, however, began to shoot at the bot, realizing – much to their horror – that he had been upgraded. RoboCrook was bulletproof.
Growing more annoyed with the situation, the bot threw Glanni clear across the way, causing him to land in a pile of scrap metal.
He walked off, clattering the whole time.
Glanni was laying in a pile of metal, trying to get his air back. He could feel something wasn’t right. He knew he was definitely bleeding, the metal he landed in was sharp. But… burning?
His eyes widened as he realized; this was iron. As he heard the footsteps of his friends running over, he quickly put up a ward. They didn’t need to know he was hurt. They didn’t need to know at all.
“Glanni, are you okay?” Elliott asked, as they made it over to him.
“Just peachy,” he replied, slowly sitting up. “I.. was not expecting that. Are you boys okay?”
“We’re fine, just trying to process what happened.” replied Sean.
Sean and Barry grabbed Glanni’s arms – gently – and helped him up from the pile of metal.
As he was back on his feet, Glanni felt dizzy. He shut his eyes momentarily, hoping the feeling would pass.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Sean’s voice broke him out of the moment.
Glanni opened his eyes. “Yeah, I’m fine. Just… tired. And sore. And honestly, a little shaken up.”
They walked back to the car, piling in, and heading back to ACME CrimeNet HQ.
