CrimeNet in LazyTown - Chapter 11

While good things were happening for Sean and Glanni, crime was afoot under the darkness of the night. Carmen and Robbie headed towards LazyTown’s museum — with their robots in tow — ready to steal precious relics and anything else they felt might be valuable.

“Now,” Carmen began, addressing the bots with a look. “You two need to stay outside and keep guard. If anyone tries to get involved and stop us, you put a stop to them. I don’t care how you have to do that, just do it.”

“As long as it’s not Glanni, or any other relative.” Robbie added.

Carmen nodded in agreement. “Speaking of, where has your brother been? He usually comes by, from what you said?”

Robbie shrugged. “No idea. Probably hungover.” he chuckled.

Carmen suddenly was reminded of the first night she arrived in town, and the incident between Glanni and RoboCrook. Surely Glanni hadn’t been injured? He got up — albeit with help from the guys — and walked off… she shook the thought from her head as they approached the museum.

“All right. The plan is in action and the heist is on.” she smiled. “Don’t screw this up, you two, or there will be hell to pay.” She looked from one bot to the other.

“No one will get past us.” RoboCrook replied.

“Good. Now, Robbie, help me up into this window. Front door entry would be too risky.”

Robbie looked towards the window in question. It was definitely too tall to simply climb into, that was certain. He held his hands where Carmen could place a foot and get onto the outer sill of the window. Once she managed to get up there, she balanced on her knees, opening the foolishly unlocked window and crawling in.

“Wait a minute! How am I going to get in now?” Robbie yelled.

“Shhh!”

Robbie looked around to make sure no one outside of the bots and Carmen had heard him; so far so good.

Not about to be unnecessarily loud, Carmen sent a message to Robbie’s phone: “One of the bots should be able to hoist you in.”

Almost as if they knew, both Roboticus and RoboCrook grabbed Robbie and flung him into the open window. He didn’t have much time to react as he pretty much sailed right through and landed right on Carmen. The villainous duo looked at each other, blushing at the current predicament.

“At least buy me dinner first.” Carmen teased.

The blushing of Robbie’s face seemed to deepen as he realized Carmen’s implications. He laughed nervously, getting to his feet, and extending a hand to help the villainess up.

As Carmen got to her feet, she looked around, not yet letting go of Robbie’s hand as she did so.

“I thought you said there was a laser security system.” she remarked, a slightly confused expression on her features.

“There is. One of the little brats activated it when Mayor Meanswell brought them all here on a visit. It’s not in this room, but in the hall and main room of the museum.”

“Makes sense now that I see we’re in a backroom of sorts.” Carmen took a few steps, leading Robbie along with her, looking at what was being kept in the room. “Doesn’t look like anything valuable. Record keeping, mostly. Maybe some newspaper archives… which might be better suited for a library.”

Breaking away from Carmen, Robbie walked over to a table, flipping open a binder.

“Anything interesting?”

“Just a list of stuff, nothing useful.”

“List of stuff? Let me see that.”

Carmen walked over to the table, reading over the list of items.

“Robbie, you genius! Do you know what you just found?”

The villain gave a confused expression. “A whole lot of nothing?”

“No! This is a list of every artifact in this place and how much its worth. It’s like a treasure map!”

“Of course. I knew that’s what I found.” he smiled.

“Didn’t you say there was something that you wanted to look for while we were here?”

Robbie thought for a moment; he remembered telling Carmen earlier that night that there was something there, but at this point, he couldn’t remember what it was.

“There is, but… what it is, I don’t remember.”

Carmen sighed. “Well, let’s look through this book then. I’m already getting ideas.”

“Good idea.”

As they continued to scan the logbook, a particular item caught Carmen's eye. "Robbie, look at this! The Diamond of Pingjiang is stored here. Do you know how much it's worth on the black market? It's worth triple what it says here!"

Robbie's eyes widened as he read the entry for the valuable diamond. "We could buy anything with that kind of money."

"Exactly," Carmen nodded in agreement. "We just need to find it… it says it’s located with the other gemstones that are on display."

“It can’t be easy to miss if it’s in the museum…”

“That’s what you’d think, but sometimes even small fragments of gemstones find their way in museums.”

Robbie had a confused expression on his face as he wondered why anyone would want to preserve a fragment.

“Now,” Carmen began. “About this laser security system… stay behind me, and just watch.”

Nodding, Robbie took his place behind Carmen, and stayed close. The villainess pulled a small mirror out from her pocket as they began into the hallway. She then knelt down, sliding the mirror gently along the wall until it intercepted a beam from the laser, which bounced back, causing the system to become confused and disable itself.

“There.” She said with a smile. “Now we have nothing to worry about… let’s go find this diamond.”
