Neko

Welcome~!

Now, let's get to know the boys a little more, shall we? (Carmen era only, as I'm mostly into this version.)

Sean Altman

Sean was born May 9, 1961 in The Bronx. His mom, Nina, was a schoolteacher, and his dad, Al, was a physics professor. Sean is the youngest of two siblings, having an older brother named Adam. He is Ukrainian on his mom's side, and Austrian on his dad's side. His parents divorced when Sean was about 6 years old and he lived in The Bronx with his mom, and his older brother moved to Massachusetts with their dad. He created Rockapella as a college student, and is a talented singer/songwriter and comedian. He created the theme song to Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? with bestie David Yazbek, and they collaborated once more to write the the song to World's sequel show, Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego?.

Sean is very sarcastic, and sometimes it's hard to know if he's serious or joking. He has a few solo albums floating about, including a demo album called SeanDEMOnium, and a comedic album called Sean Altman's Jewmongous: The Least Jewy Jew in Jew-ville. It's hilarious. I recommend the song "They Tried to Kill Us, We Survived, Let's Eat". It's my jam, lol.

Sean has been known to say in recent years that leaving Rockapella is one of his biggest regrets, and he tends to post a lot of old throwbacks of him and the guys, which leads fans to wonder if he could be rejoining the group eventually.

He lives in Harlem, New York, with his wife, opera singer Inna Dukach, and their daughter, Ruby.

Scott Leonard

His birthname is Charles Scott Leonard IV, and he was born October 11, 1965 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He had been singing in a cappella groups since high school -- he attended Lawrence North High School -- and was living in Tampa, Florida at the time he auditioned for Rockapella. He is fluent in Japanese, and lived in Japan for some time, performing at Tokyo Disneyland, where he met his wife, Lisa.

While in Japan, Scott led a Japanese electronic rock band, called "Horizon". He currently lives in Tampa, Florida, but has been spending most of his time living in Brooklyn, NY. Scott has two kids, a son named Jesse, and a daughter named Natalie. Natalie lives in NYC.

Elliott Kerman

I literally know nothing about Elliott, as it seems he's pretty darn private. All I know is that he and Sean have been friends for years, and he lives very close by to Sean. Elliott is married to an artist named Debbie, and they have two sons. For the past couple of years, Elliott has been battling prostate cancer.

Jeff Thacher

He was born December 23, 1967 in Noank, Connecticut. Jeff founded a Boston-based a cappella group called Five O'Clock Shadow in 1991, and joined Rockapella in 1993. Jeff is a graduate of Berklee College of Music, graduating in 1990.

He is still part of Rockapella as vocal percussionist, and works producing a lot of Sean's solo videos -- mostly the comedic Jewmongous videos.

He currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee.

Barry Carl

Barry was born April 20, 1950 in Portland, Oregon. His father was a jazz musician, and his mother was an artist whose focus was mostly on sculpting. Barry grew up in Los Angeles, where his parents moved when he was around 2 years old.

He began studying voice in 1975 at Julliard, and became a singer in their American Opera Center program. Barry was told by voice teacher Richard Torigi that he "had a very ugly voice and should quit". (Me thinks dude did not know what he was talking about.) Barry has been in several operas singing bass and playing roles... he's been in Faust as Mephistopheles, Die Zauberflote as Sarastro, Nabucco as Zaccaria, L'incoronazione di Poppea as Seneca, and A Midsummer Night's Dream as Theseus.

Since leaving Rockapella, he has become a counselor and privately teaches a limited number of vocal students. Fun fact, he's the voice of the Papa Bear in the Charmin toilet paper ads, LOL. Not 100 percent where Barry lives nowadays, or if he's married. He does have an adult daughter named Jaci, and I think one other daughter, but I don't know her name.

These guys have been my favorites since I was a small child, and they mean the world to me. Their music, and just them being their amazing selves, has pulled me out of some of the darkest times in my life, and I hope one day I can meet them in person and tell them this.
