CrimeNet in LazyTown - Chapter 8
Twenty-four hours had passed, and miraculously, Glanni made it through. His fever, however, had spiked, and Sean was doing everything he could to keep the Fae cool – fans blowing, scant covers, placing cool washcloths on his forehead. Glanni would fade in and out of consciousness, the pain coursing through him making most of his waking moments unbearable.
The Fae’s eyes fluttered open, as he seemed to whine a bit, clawing at what blankets were on him, trying to get them off as quickly as possible. Sean helped, taking off the covers. He touched Glanni’s face, and he was still burning up, still weakened from the poison.
“You feel like you’ve been under an electric blanket,” Sean remarked, taking the washcloth that he had been trying to cool Glanni down with. He headed towards the bathroom to recool the rag when Glanni stopped him.
“Don’t bother…” he mumbled. “It’s too late for me…”
Those words made Sean stop in his tracks. He turned, looking at Glanni. “Don’t say that.”
“It’s true, Sean… I can feel my body trying to shut down.”
Sean shook his head, not wanting to hear it. “No… Glanni, you’re going to be fine.” he walked back over to him, sitting on the bed. “Mrs. Pumpkin-Klanger is working on some sort of thing to cure you.”
Glanni looked up at him, with tears in his eyes. “It won’t work. I’m sorry… I should have told you sooner that I was hurt... This wouldn’t be happening.”
“Glanni… stop, it’ll be fine. You’ve got to be positive.” Sean blinked back tears, more the less trying to convince himself things would be fine.
“Promise me something, Sean…”
“What?”
“Take care of Ruby and the twins for me.”
Sean nodded, unable to say anything. He pulled Glanni into his lap and held him. He went to say something but stopped.
Glanni looked up at Sean. “Sing me to sleep,” he said softly. “If this is the end, I want your voice to be the last thing I hear.”
“Glanni…”
“Please.”
Looking at Glanni, and the way he pleaded with him, Sean couldn’t say no.
“If you’re lost, I will find you with a vision knows your fear,
And if you break, I will bind you in my arms.
If you hurt, I will heal you,
If you stray, I will reel you in and drive away the demons did you harm…
Come my way, I’ll carry you in from the cold.
Come my way, I promise I’ll lead you back home.”
Glanni was content, closing his eyes. The sound of Sean’s voice was all that he heard as he faded.
Sean noticed the Fae was completely still, and panic set in. He shook Glanni, trying to get him to wake up. “Come on… you’re – you’re okay. Wake up…”
Nothing.
“Glanni… wake up… please!” The fear was evident in Sean’s voice. “Don’t leave me… I love you so much. I should’ve said it sooner.” He shook the Fae again to no response.
He gently moved Glanni out of his lap and fled the room, nearly crashing into Scott as he did.
“Sean, what’s going on?” the blond asked, concerned.
Sean couldn’t say anything, but the look on his face was speaking volumes.
“I’ll go get Mrs. P.”
Sean stood in the doorway of the room, unable to hold in tears anymore.
